IIoT and service platform managed Ethernet networks

02.03.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX | the Turck Automation Suite TAS simplifies the management and configuration of network components of the automation in Industrial Ethernet networks. The batch functions speed up many actions because they can be executed simultaneously for multiple devices such as sensors and actuators. This saves a lot of time when assigning IP addresses or firmware updates.

For example, software functions from Turcks can be accessed directly via the TAS IO-Link-Devices such as the Radar Monitor can be executed as long as the device can be reached in the associated network. Classic IO-Link functions such as setting parameters can also be carried out directly from the TAS.

With the Automation Suite, Turck has for the first time combined the configuration and parameterization tools of its smart sensors with the network management functions of its Ethernet devices in a software. In the future, the manufacturer also wants to integrate extensive IIoT functions - e.g. B. as a virtual edge controller data via MQTT or OPC UA send to cloud services. Previous tools and programs are gradually being replaced by TAS.

Compact fieldbus 4 I/O module for intralogistics

Turck Fieldbus IO Module331.03.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX | Especially for use in fieldbus technology applications such as systems in logistics with low I/O requirements Turck now offers the Ethernet IO module TBEN-S1-4DXP. In the TBEN-S design, the compact block module offers four flexibly usable inputs or outputs for fieldbus technology. The fieldbus components have eight channels as standard. The new fieldbus IO module with protection classes IP40, IP70 and IP65K can be used in a variety of ways in intralogistics and industrial automation at temperatures from -67° to 69°C.

Where few IOs are collected and transmitted over long distances, users benefit from the flexibility of the TBEN-S modules - with increased cost efficiency. The TBEN-S1-4DXP fulfills degrees of protection up to IP69K. This shortens the times for commissioning and the effort involved wiring of the system with decentralized automation. As a multi-protocol device from Turck, the IO module for fieldbuses can be used as usual without user intervention in Ethernet networks with Profinet, Ethernet/IP or Modbus TCP.

Turck IO-Link starter kit brings standard to life

Turck IO-Link starter kit04.05.2020 | What the digital IO-Link The compact communication protocol can do everything and what advantages it offers Turck IO-Link Starter Kit. With the IO-Link devices contained in the system box, you can set up an independent IO-Link system yourself. The starter kit makes the technology tangible in practice.

Next to the tower IO-Link master Tben-S With four universal PNP channels, the set contains an RGB signal light and two sensors. These are the inductive Uprox sensor BI10U and the ultrasonic sensor RU40U. The IO-Link devices provide user data and maintenance data for the condition monitoring The starter kit also contains a 230 V power supply unit, compatible cables M12-M12 and M8-Ethernet RJ45 as well as a USB memory stick for easier commissioning. The Operating software Pactware and all IO device descriptions (IODD) as well as an IODD DTM interpreter.

Integrate software-free via SIDI

The measured values can be transferred to a PC via the Simple IO-Link device Integration (SIDI), the devices can be integrated into Profinet systems without additional software. The in-house IO-Link devices and the devices from the optoelectronics partner are on Turck's IO-Link masters Banner Engineering stored in the SIDI library. There are also numerous devices from well-known competitors. The integration of other manufacturers is possible on request.

This is how the IO-Link devices in the hardware catalog of a programming environment like the TIA portal as if they were sub-modules of an I / O system. Important properties and parameters such as measuring ranges, output signals or pulse rates can be changed in the plain text field.

Managed Ethernet switch with GBit high-speed backbone

09.03.2020 | Turck has a compact 10-port managed Ethernet switch with protection class IP67 presented. With the robust TBEN-L-SE-M2 switches, camera applications, for example, can be significantly accelerated due to the highest data rates of up to 1 gigabit/s. A high-speed link-up function supports fast Tool change in less than 150 ms for minimal cycle times in Robot. The Ethernet switch can be mounted decentrally directly at the field level.

This is how the switches from Turck reduce the Wiring effort of cables & Co. between switch cabinet and Ethernet participants on the machine. The TBEN-L switch thus allows consistent modularization in mechanical engineering.

The manageable Ethernet switches from Turck have numerous functions for the safe and efficient organization of industrial Ethernet networks. The integrated Firewall protects bidirectionally against unauthorized access and thus increases security in the IIoT. A NAT routing function enables the participants to be represented under alternative IP addresses in higher-level networks. This avoids the duplication of IP addresses in the user's network on the devices. The ports-based IP address assignment allows the assignment of participant addresses via the web browser of the switches.

Protect the network from overload

Using media redundancy RSTP, the switches can increase the availability of lines. Users can go through the facility virtual networks Separate VLAN production from management networks or assign individual bandwidths per VLAN. This is how they protect the network from overloading due to broadcast floods. The network load monitoring at each port always shows an overview of the bandwidth usage in the network.

The 1 Gigabit / s switches with their 10 ports are suitable for the production lines of Automotive industry, the Intralogistik and Agriculture. Thanks to multicast, the Ethernet switch supports the automation of Agriculture.

SIDI integrates IO-Link devices in Profinet

Turck Profinet18.03.2019/XNUMX/XNUMX | the Simple IO-Link device integration, SIDI for short from Turck, simplifies the handling of IO-Link devices in Profinet engineering systems. Since the devices are already integrated in the GSDML file of the master, the user can select the devices from the device library (e.g. in the TIA Portal) and integrate them into his project using drop-down boxes, as if the devices were submodules on a modular one I/O system.

The user benefits from plain text access on all device properties and parameters. Measuring ranges, switching points and pulse rates can be viewed directly from the Engineering Systems can be set – without programming or additional software.

SIDI is now on all Turck IO-Link masters integrated into the TBEN-L, TBEN-S and FEN20 series. The software contains all IO-Link devices from Turck and Banner Engineering. In addition, the automation company has also included IO-Link devices from third-party manufacturers, such as valve terminals, in the SIDI catalogue. Other devices from other manufacturers can be added on request.

Temperature Sensor | humidity sensor | vibration sensor

SIDI also simplifies maintenance considerably. Since all device properties and parameters of masters and devices are available directly in the central project storage of the controller, automatic device replacement also succeeds in the event of damage without problems - both for IO-Link masters and for devices.

Inductive data transmission based on contactless couplers

Turck inductive data transmissionRobots with interchangeable tools or rotary tables place high demands on the electrical connection technology. Wearing contacts and connectors require short maintenance intervals or even lead to machine downtime. Turck now offers inductive data transmission with couplers as Alternative to classic connection technology: The NIC couplers are wear-free compared to slip rings or mechanically heavily stressed connectors.
