BASF shows their new, super slim High performance insulation Slentite and Slentex. With their material properties, the new generation of energy-efficient thermal insulation materials based on airgel are suitable for slim concrete facade of residential buildings and as a high-performance insulation material in the automotive sector.
The use of new Materials in combination with the use Renewable energies are the mix of success for the building of the future. In a pilot project in Leipzig, the supporting structure of the residential building is being manufactured in a hybrid construction from carbon concrete and reinforced concrete.
High-performance insulation for slim concrete facades
A particularly slim wall structure can be achieved with the high-performance insulation Slentite and Slentex can be achieved as an insulating layer between the concrete layers. In comparison to conventional insulation materials, the wall thickness can be reduced by up to 50%. The significant streamlining of the outer wall not only enables new aesthetic concepts, but also leads to a gain in space that is becoming increasingly important for inner-city construction. In addition, both high-performance insulation materials can be integrated into the automated production of the elements in the concrete plant without further system adjustments.
The high-performance insulation is very suitable for areas in which conventional insulation materials cannot be used. At Mobile homes, Caravans or in the transport industry, saving space is a key criterion. The prototype motorhome, which is being manufactured in cooperation with a leading motorhome and motorhome manufacturer and BASF for K 2019, shows how the slimline high-performance insulation helps to gain valuable space for indoor use.
Slim high-performance insulation for every climate
With Slentite we have succeeded for the first time, a pure Polyurethane-based airgel to produce. The stable airgel insulation panels, which consist of around 90% air and are permeable to diffusion, allow up to 50% slimmer insulation compared to conventional materials - for maximum efficiency with a high degree of aesthetics.
As a future-oriented High-performance insulation Thanks to its open-pored structure, Slentite ensures a pleasant room climate and helps reduce energy costs. In addition to the very good insulation performance (λ = 18 mW / m • K), it is also very easy to process. The clean, dust-free panels can be easily cut to size on site and attached directly to the wall or coated in advance. "With this unique combination of product properties, Slentite enables extremely space-saving insulation and thus gains space both in the construction sector and in the transport sector," explains dr Marc Fricke, Project management and marketing for high-performance insulation materials at BASF.
Insulate flexibly and efficiently
Slentex is an easy to process and non-flammable material with excellent thermal conductivity based on purely mineral raw materials. As a single-layer, flexible mat, it is now available for a wide range of applications in the construction and renovation sector.
The extremely slim insulation mat achieves an insulation performance with a value of λD 19 mW / m • K which is significantly lower thermal conductivity than conventional, mineral insulation materials and enables the construction of very thin wall structures. The material with the high insulation performance is non-flammable and classified in building material class A2-s1, d0 and ETA certified.
Slentex is open to water vapor diffusion (µ ~ 5), but at the same time hydrophobic, which makes it suitable for facade applications. “The flexible insulation material adapts to both flat and curved lines Buildingsstructures very well and fulfills the highest energy requirements that a non-flammable insulation material can offer ”, so dr Wibke Loelsberg, Project management and marketing for high-performance insulation materials at BASF.
