Innovative wastewater treatment with ozone against micropollutants

Medicines and cosmetics in private households also lead to residues in the water. These substances are difficult to decompose biologically during wastewater treatment and can hardly be eliminated with conventional technology in the sewage treatment plant. Ozone is increasingly being used to remove pollutants as completely as possible from the wastewater during wastewater treatment. Prominent has the technology to do it.

Ozone is the strongest oxidizing agent in water treatment. It removes impurities highly effectively and reliably as well as in a way that conserves resources and is environmentally friendly. By means of oxidation, ozone breaks down traces of substances or converts them into smaller molecules. These traces of substances are more easily decomposed by microorganisms in the waste water in a post-treatment stage or can be removed by absorption. These combination processes improve the cleaning performance of the systems and usually remove more than 80% of trace substances from the wastewater. The operating costs are also lower than with comparable technologies.

In addition, ozonation reduces the germ load in the waste water. A discoloration and more COD reduction are other positive side effects. COD is a measure of the chemical oxygen demand in water and shows its organic load. The lower the CBS load, the cleaner the water. Contact time and specific dosage are decisive for the technical implementation. Ozone is produced in an on-site ozone generator.

Keeping ozone production economical is not easy. Due to the strongly fluctuating amounts of wastewater and the composition of trace substances, the amount of ozone fluctuates enormously. The new ozone plant Dzlcozon Ozla from Prominent is fail-safe and can be equipped with up to 16 ozone generator modules. The modules can be switched on and off as required. The amount of ozone produced can be adjusted to fluctuations, such as in a sewage treatment plant, in which a large or small amount of waste water is treated at times.
