joyson0919For the first time, the Joyson Group is presenting a cockpit concept in Frankfurt that combines competencies from all three divisions of the group. In addition to solutions for active and passive safety, the demonstrator has operating systems / HMI as well as backlit surfaces and a joint vent. The guiding principle of the cockpit concept is an "adaptive interior": an interior that is also designed for the requirements of autonomous driving.

The concept study developed by Joyson Safety Systems includes a steering wheel suitable for different levels of autonomous driving, which does not require a fixed steering column connection thanks to the steer-by-wire technology integrated in the steering wheel body. In the highly automated driving mode, the concept offers the possibility to fold away the steering wheel and to use a large touchscreen productively while driving.

The safe handover of vehicle control is a major challenge in autonomous driving. This is guaranteed by the interplay of three technologies: the camera-based sensing of head tilt and line of sight "Driver Monitoring System" (DMS); Hands-on detection (HoD), in which sensors in the steering wheel record the position of the hands and evaluate vital functions such as pulse and skin conductivity, and a light bar positioned in the driver's field of vision that provides visual feedback in critical driving situations or provides information about the degree of autonomous driving can.

Multifunctional steering wheel switch

The system supplier competence of Joyson can also be found in the steering wheel, because the multifunctional steering wheel switches were incorporated into the concept by the Preh Group. They have a closed surface and active haptic feedback. The close cooperation between the various Joyson divisions in the center console area is particularly clear. Joyson Safety Systems also presents a seat with a special, motorized seat belt and a belt-integrated airbag, which is also available in alternative seating positions, such as seat belts. B. lying, provides additional security and can replace the conventional front airbag. Together with the illuminated belt buckle and the belt feeder, these technologies contribute to improving occupant protection and comfort. A sensor for seat recognition, required for the interaction of belt tensioning and airbag deployment, is also part of the seat, as a precrash side airbag.
