pfeiffer0312Pfeiffer Vacuum and Glimo have jointly developed the "Vacu²" multi-stage vacuum process for die casting, in which the casting chambers and mold cavities are evacuated in two stages. The vacuum created in this way leads to very good part quality.

In the first evacuation stage, the air is extracted via a large pipe cross-section directly at the casting chamber. As a result, the desired pressure in the casting chamber and mold can be achieved within a short time. In the second stage is sucked as in conventional methods on the mold.

Vacu² allows reliable process control of the actual pressure in the mold. Changes in leakage and conductance values are determined, monitored and documented. The resulting transparency of the process accelerates the optimization castprocess and reduces the reject rate. Due to the reduced dependence of the process on leakage and conductance, the effort involved in mold construction can be reduced and can be tailored precisely to the respective application.
