The configurable safe minicontroller Pnozmulti 2 by Pilz takes over further tasks of the access authorization and the selection of the operating mode Industrial Security and the Safety or machine safety. As a system solution, the small controller in conjunction with the Pitreader readout unit of the Pitmode system enables comprehensive access control and a functionally safe mode selection.
The new functions of the small controls are available from version 10.12 of the associated Pnozmulti configurator. The system solution consisting of a small controller, operating mode selection and access authorization thus ensures safe, efficient and user-friendly production processes on machines.
Manage chained machines safely
In connection with the readout unit Pitreader, the Pnozmulti 2 control takes over an efficient access management. The connection of up to four readout units Pit reader to the "Pnoz m B1" base unit of the Pnozmulti 2 small controller. This also enables linked machines to be managed safely. The effort for the hardware can be minimized.

The extended system solution ranges from simple approval to authentication for certain machine part functions to a complex hierarchical authorization matrix. Access permissions are high tamper protection user-friendly configurable. This simplifies the manipulation management of the control and reduces machine downtimes.
Two alternatives for operating the controls
Using the function blocks in conjunction with pit readers, safe mode selection is possible up to PL d / SIL CL 2 easily configurable on machines and systems. The small controls can be operated via buttons or touch panels. In both variants, authorization to select an operating mode is provided by the pit reader readout unit and appropriately configured RFID keys.
Alternative 1: operation via button
The operating mode is selected using a button using commercially available pushbutton like the new PIT oe4S multi-button element from Pilz. It offers up to five operating modes. They can be selected separately using the four individual buttons on the multi-button element. The space-saving solution can be integrated in the control panel and eliminates the need for additional individual buttons. In this variant, the safety-related evaluation of the operating mode takes place via the controls. This variant eliminates costs for additional visualization hardware.

Alternative 2: Operation via touch panel
If users have to keep an eye on their system, they can safely select the operating mode using the Pmivisu operator and visualization terminals from Pilz. The variant with a touch panel is particularly useful in widely branched systems with several work areas that are separated from each other.
