Many can already generate the electricity of the future. THE Energy however, has developed a worldwide unique solution. A wind turbine tower covered with flexible photovoltaic cells enables the hybrid Energy generation. It brings together the energy sources of sun and wind.

DAS Energy energy generation

In cooperation with the energy source Energy Burgenland Such a wind turbine was put into operation for the first time at the beginning of June. The additional electricity generated by the photovoltaic cells makes the wind turbine more efficient and thus brings together the climate-friendliness of the two renewable energies.

Energy generation from two worlds

DAS Energy Photovoltaic Wind PowerIt is not easy to bring two renewable energy sources together. The tower of a wind turbine is pasted with the photovoltaic cells. This requires high-tech, because the films in the photovoltaic systems from DAS Energy must be flexible and adapt to the tower.

“Photovoltaics is generally one of the most environmentally friendly technologies, but it requires a lot of space. Our goal is to make as many areas as possible usable in order to generate the electricity of the future, ”says dr John Srajer, Managing director of DAS Energy.

On the 80 m high tower of the wind turbine were 30 solar panels Installed. They cover an area of 60 m². Aligned to the south-east and south-west, the collectors capture the maximum amount of daily solar radiation. The electricity that is now also generated supplies the wind power turbines inside the wind turbine, among other things.

Hybrid systems against climate change

Michael Gerbavsits, CEO of Energieträger Energie Burgenland, commented: “It is particularly important to invest in times of crisis. And it is also important to successfully master the energy transition in order to slow down climate change ”. The renewable energy pilot project in Weiden am See is an example of how innovation can become an investment.
