In terms of optics, small TC134-146-S tube dampers and the giant Schäffer 9380 T telescopic loader do not have much in common: one comes at a weight of slightly more than 1,5 kg, an outer diameter of 134 mm and a maximum stroke from 146 mm for now unimpressive therefore. The others impress at first glance with a maximum weight of 15 t and a lifting height of 6,90 m.

ACE2However, both have advantages from different areas: The structural dampers combine very good damping properties at an affordable price. For example, the service life of machine elements made of co-polyester elastomer exceeds that of urethane dampers by twenty times and that of steel springs by five times. At the same time, however, they are significantly cheaper than industrial shock absorbers, which are also suitable for demanding tasks. The telescopic wheel loaders from Schäffer Maschinenfabrik GmbH, on the other hand, combine the overview and power of a wheel loader with the reach and lifting height of a conventional telescopic loader. Equipped with a swinging rear axle, they have a very high level of stability.

This comes into play when the driver working in a centrally positioned cab is traveling in rough terrain and the enormous lifting height of the machine is to be exploited. With pendulum axle, front and rear carriages always move together with best off-road capability. Thus, the heavy rear truck always serves as a counterweight to the lifted load. In addition to the stability of the loader, this results in a high degree of comfort and safety. Another advantage is that when planing and pushing the bucket for a better result can always be charged with the full loader weight.

Structure damper as pendulum limiter

Potential constructions are manifold: Some require deceleration according to degressive damping characteristics, ie after a high energy intake at the beginning of the stroke, others according to the exact opposite and again others over the entire stroke as constant as possible, ie approximately linear or progressive characteristics.
