IE5 permanent magnet motor with 96,6% efficiency

For the first time, WEG presents an IE5 permanent magnet motor that has even fewer losses than its predecessor. The W22 Super Premium IE4 asynchronous motor has an efficiency of 96,6% and is one of the first motors on the market to meet the previously formulated criteria of a possible energy efficiency class IE5. The manufacturer will also be presenting its explosion-protected asynchronous motors of the W22x series, which are now also available in IE4 design.
With this new development, machine builders have the choice of implementing the legal requirements with a high-performance W22 IE2 motor in combination with a CFW 11 and CFW11M series frequency converter or directly for a solution with a W22 class IE3 motor or IE4 decide. Especially energy-conscious companies can now even go one step further and rely on the new permanent magnet motor, which has far fewer losses than the Super Premium model and meets the current requirements of a possible IE5 guideline.
The further development of the W22x engine series for explosion-proof applications also targets energy efficiency and engine regulations. So far, special applications such as explosion protection in the efficiency control of standard asynchronous motors are still excluded. WEG sets itself the requirement to always be able to offer maximum energy efficiency even in this demanding field of application. Consequently, the drive specialist is now expanding its range of explosion-proof W22x motors to include versions of energy efficiency class IE4.
