How fit Plastic and heavy load together? Igus knows and offers one for this Spindle nut in the new thread nut design. The polymer nut Dry spin JGRM Made from injection molding is therefore an inexpensive alternative to the ball screw nut for the ball screw. Together with one Screw it moves heavy loads wear-resistant and lubricant-free.
The threaded spindle can be found in Construction machinery, Actuator or Solar tracker. The threaded spindle must move high loads safely and with a long service life. Igus has the spindle nut for this JGRM series designed. For higher axial loads, the new threaded nut is also available with a stainless steel plate as a heavy-duty version.

“The new JGRM series is a robust alternative to ball screw nuts,” says Thorben Hendricks, Business Area Manager Thread Technology at Igus GmbH. "The new design of the screw nut distributes the radial and axial loads, so that we can absorb higher forces in contrast to conventional flange screw nuts."
The new spindle nut design is based on the connection dimensions and the pitch of Ball screw and can therefore be easily exchanged. The spindle nut offers a wide range of installation designs: It can be screw on, screw on or mount in a hole. The thread centering shoulder, the anti-twist protection through spanner flats and the use of four M6 cylinder screws help with the installation.

Igus produces the threaded nut by injection molding in Cologne. It weighs little and is inexpensive. Compared to ball screw spindles, the polymer threaded nut costs just half. Due to the high-performance polymers used iglidur J the spindle nut offers very low coefficients of friction. Rounded thread flanks and the lack of balls ensure a smooth-running thread.
In addition, the threaded nut dispenses with the use of Dry lubricants on external lubrication. "We are thus offering customers a maintenance-free solution that is insensitive to dust and dirt," says Thorben Hendricks.
For higher axial loads, the JGRM spindle nuts are also available as a heavy duty variant with a Stainless steel plate. The flange dimensions remain the same. The stainless steel plate is mounted on the nut and thus enlarges the contact surface for force dissipation. The screw heads no longer rest on the plastic.
The test in the 3.800 m² Igus test laboratory showed that the heavy-duty variant can handle up to 6 MPa and can therefore take 50% more load than a comparable plastic flange threaded nut. The new spindle is suitable for all thread types with a diameter of 14 mm to 20 mm. The spindle nut achieves its highest efficiency on the patented asymmetrical Dryspin Thread from Igus.
