The industry sees autonomous work machines as a vision of the future and so these will continue to be the focus of exhibitors at the world's leading trade fair in 2022. “However, real autonomy in construction machinery is hardly conceivable in the foreseeable future because – unlike, for example, in the closed working environment of a quarry or mine – complex technical and safety challenges exist,” says Tim Oliver Müller, Managing Director of the Main Association of the German Construction Industry. V. He sees intelligent machines and construction vehicles with semi-automated and supporting functions on the construction site as being much more realistic in the near future.
