ats220319The "femsense“Technology from Steady sense continuously records body temperature in a simple, exact and hygienic way. It can be used, for example, to determine ovulation when a child is about to be born, or it can record dangerous temperature increases after the operation.

A major disadvantage of non-invasive point temperature measurements is that sudden temperature increases - the z. B to indicate infection after surgery - not recorded. On the other hand, the complete temperature check for up to seven days with Femsense is an ideal solution, for example to determine the fertile days when children are wanted or for patient monitoring in hospitals. AT + S was involved in this development right from the start - from the feasibility study to product development and manufacturing.

Jumo temperature transmitterTemperature Transmitter | Industry novelties and applications

The start-up company based near Graz benefited not only from the leading PCB technology from AT + S, but also from its comprehensive system expertise, especially in the medical sector. In addition to the circuit logic, the smart Femsense sensor system essentially consists of a temperature-sensitive, fully integrated sensor, which is stuck under the armpit as a temperature measuring patch and activated with the smartphone. As a result, the high-tech patch continuously determines and stores the current body temperature values at given time intervals. If necessary, the measured values are read out with an NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled smartphone, evaluated and displayed in the specially developed app. The result is an accurate, simple, consistent and discrete temperature measurement.

Help with child desire

ats120319The first application for the sensor patch focuses on the determination of ovulation, ie the ovulation of the user by means of the basal temperature jump. The goal is to increase the likelihood of pregnancy when children want to have children. The correlation between the increase in body temperature and the ovulation time has been known for almost 100 years. The innovation is that with the Femsense patch, the temperature is measured continuously and precisely. In comparison to point measurements (eg once a day), a temperature curve can be determined precisely, which significantly increases the reliability of this method.

The one-time use of temperature measuring patches minimizes the risk of infection. In addition to the sensor patches Steadysense also provides the app and all interfaces to the central database. Femsense is a certified medical device according to ISO 13485.

Compact design with flexible printed circuit board

The handy and compact patch is based on a circuit with a flexible circuit board and fits comfortably on the surface of the body. Today, flexible printed circuit boards are used in many areas of electronics. The circuit board is often bent, twisted or folded into a housing. By using flexible circuit boards, connections and geometries can be created, such as Femsense patches - which cannot be achieved with a rigid circuit board. The circuit board was made using SMT temperature sensor and a battery. AT+S not only developed the circuit board, but also carried out the assembly. To achieve this, the company used the relevant capacities and technologies in its Korean factory. They are particularly specialized in flexible circuit board solutions for the medical sector.

The close cooperation with Steadysense is just one example of how AT + S brings its extensive expertise beyond the PCB into system design, working closely with partners or customers early on in product development. In particular, we support young, innovative start-up companies.
