Telescopic rails for the stable trunk full extension

Basecab 2move is a Full extension for trunk of the Land Rover Discovery, which uses its entire extension length even with the rear seat bench folded down. It has the normal trunk size and also offers full through-loading. This is made possible thanks to the great rigidity and high load ratings of the "Hegra Rail" telescopic rails from Rollon.
Olaf Janssen from Krefeld, one of the initiators of the Basecab 2move project, is a self-employed system integrator who deals with concepts for the Building automationof residential houses and commercial properties. Its particular strength is the manufacturer-independent integration of all individual systems, so that users ultimately benefit from a uniform operating concept.
This also includes the cross-trade coordination and commissioning of the building infrastructure and building services on the construction site. For example, it networks shutters, heating, alarm systems, garden irrigation and lighting. In the end, the smart home even masters complete presence simulations when the residents are traveling.
Janssen has been a committed Land Rover Defender driver for years and values the robust, reliable technology and the easily accessible, spacious cargo area of the off-road classic. "The Defender is simply square, practical and good and has accompanied me on trips and outdoor adventures for years," says Janssen. He also used it professionally for technical service appointments and construction site assignments. Janssen partially transported 400 kg of tools, assembly material and spare parts in his "Landy".
He now drives one on business Land Rover Discovery. Although it has more cargo space, the entire interior is no longer as easily accessible. When the rear seats are folded down, the load space has an installation length of 1,40 m, and the lower part of the tailgate can also be folded down. Standard pull-out trunk floors for the Discovery can only be pulled out 50% and have a maximum load of 75 kg.
That was too little for the taste of the experimental mechanical engineer. Additional roof loading or a trailer were too bulky and uncomfortable for him. A simple pull-out loading floor wasn't versatile enough. Janssen began to design and research.
It was supposed to be a construction in which the Extract with load 150% complete from the rear of the Discovery and then has all-round access to the tool boxes. Additional spare parts can be placed on the folded rear seats if required and are accessible via the side doors. The other way around, the pull-out can also be pushed completely forward over the rear seats and there is still load space at the back.
The problem with the idea was that the drawer is pulled out at both end positions and the entire load floating freely affects the extract. Janssen spent a long time looking for suitable telescopic rails for his project. There were no extensions for 150% stroke and the corresponding load ratings. It was only at Rollon that he came across the Hegra Rail Rail and picked up the telephone receiver.
Janssen remembers the contact: “After all the unsuccessful search and a few unsuccessful phone calls, I secretly expected that a large industrial supplier like Rollon would not take my private request for two heavy full extensions seriously. But the responsible sales representative, Mr. Nolte, found my idea very interesting and came by in person at short notice. "
Olaf Janssen ordered for his full trunk extension Basecab 2move the material moisture meter shows you the Over extension H1T060 from the Hegra Rail family. The over extension can be extended up to 150% of the closed telescope length. The used size 60 with a telescopic height of 60 mm achieves a load capacity of up to 2600 N per pair and can be delivered with a maximum length of 1500 mm, which corresponds to a maximum stroke of 2250 mm.
The linear technology specialist also builds over extensions with strokes of up to 200% if required. Through the Use of intermediate elements With a high moment of inertia, the Hegra Rails achieve great system rigidity and high load-bearing capacity, even when the systems are fully extended.
Olaf Janssen's Basecab 2move also benefits from this, and that too when fully loaded can be easily pulled out and pushed in. The fact that the floor can be moved in two directions results in three positions: In the loading position, the floor is on the outside for loading and unloading. In the trunk position, the floor is in the trunk with the rear bench seat upright. In the indoor position, the floor is above the folded back seat.
The Hegra Rail product family consists of five product categories: There are partial, full, heavy-duty and over-extension runners as well as S-profiles, each of which is built in numerous designs with many equipment options. The application engineers at Rollon determine which telescopic rail is most suitable for the respective customer project for the individual application.
Together, all Hegra Rails have their compact yet sturdy construction. This allows them to absorb high loads with minimal deflection. The long-lasting telescopic rails offer high functional reliability and a long service life. In operation, they run easily and quietly. If required, the rails can also be equipped with latches, dampers or drivers.
Hegra Rail telescopic slides are often used for heavy equipment drawers and unit extracts, for example used on fire brigade and THW vehicles, so that the manufacturer has extensive know-how in the use of Linear Technology an vehicles Has. When Olaf Janssen ordered the right telescopic slides for his Discovery project, during the delivery time he used the CAD data to design his prototype, which he then built himself together with two friends, including all processing steps.
About two months later, on one of the first trips with the modified Land Rover, he met another Discovery driver who was spontaneously enthusiastic and asked where one could buy the Basecab 2move. So the idea for the Construction and sales in small series born.
Be first Basecab 2move Janssen has now been in transport for 15.000 km and so far with a 210 kg load capacity fully extended without any problems. The next expansion stage is to install a fully accessible cabinet system on the drawer pull-out, which can be equipped with standard Euroboxes. Because equipment has to be tidy - be it on the construction site or when traveling into the wilderness.
Rollon offers telescopic slides and linear rails for the development of customer-specific solutions for all types of highly specialized vehicles, vehicle conversions for the disabled or use in unconventional environments.
