vacuum generator, also known as vacuum ejectors, are used for handling and fixing workpieces. They are used, for example, in automation, packaging or Robotic. Modern technologies enable vacuum generators to make significant savings in compressed air and increase energy efficiency. This article presents a few innovations and their advantages.

06.05.2019/250/112 | The multi-stage vacuum generators in the ZL3A series (pictured above) from SMC deliver around 8% higher suction volume flow compared to a single-stage model. Based on the highly efficient 60-stage diffuser design, they are very powerful. The lightweight powerhouses are also XNUMX% narrower and XNUMX% lighter.
This compactness, which is a trend, reduces the loads on the moving parts, especially in highly dynamic applications Industrial robotsn. At the same time, the air consumption has been reduced again by 10% compared to the previous models. This energy saving was achieved by lowering the operating pressure for the maximum vacuum from 0,4 MPa to 0,33 MPa. The air consumption is therefore only 57 l/min.
In the compact housing of the multi-stage vacuum generator, all elements are housed in a single unit: 3 stage diffuser, vacuum pressure sensor, pilot valves for supply and ventilation, and filter and silencer unit. This makes the ZL112A models very easy to maintain. For example, no tools are needed to replace the silencer or filter unit. With the push of a finger, latches can be opened and easy access to the parts to be replaced.
High vacuum, ultra high vacuum and extremely high vacuum
The ZL112A series is particularly suitable for use on workpieces in the packaging industry where high pressure leakage is to be expected, such as with porous or uneven surfaces, e.g. B. occurs in cardboard or wood materials. The weight-reduced design of the vacuum generator predestines it specifically for use on moving parts Industrial robotsn.
Depending on requirements, the ZL112A series models can be equipped with three different pressure gauges: In addition to the digital vacuum switch, a vacuum gauge and a vacuum connection adapter are available. Equipped with a digital vacuum switch, the pressure in the field can be read directly on the ZL112A vacuum generators. The current values are shown on a display and the switching points can be changed quickly using pushbuttons.
02.10.2018/XNUMX/XNUMX | Avac's patented "multi-circuit" ejectors supply four, five or six independent vacuum circuits. They are quick and easy to install and replace many components that would be necessary for conventional ejectors. The low-maintenance vacuum circuits are monitored with just one vacuum sensor.
Even if not all vacuum circuits are occupied, the workpiece is still transported safely and reliably. The Booster Release ejectors enable extremely short cycle times. Thanks to the patented blow-off function, they only need an average of 5 ms for release. With a 50 mm suction cup, the workpiece is released after just 3,5 ms. The workpiece is released very quickly, gently and precisely. The clever design increases competitiveness.
The Air Save ejectors save up to 95% of compressed air and therefore money. They have a fully pneumatic vacuum control circuit, so a separate control system is not necessary. The supply and interruption of compressed air to generate the vacuum takes place automatically.
The versatile, intelligent Autovac MFE allows easy communication between man and machine with regard to Industry 4.0. These plug-and-play ejectors made of robust aluminum have an integrated automatic air-saving function, small installation dimensions and are easy to mount on multiple base plates. Vacuum generation and blow-off are controlled by a solenoid valve. A holding valve delays the release of the workpiece from the suction cups in the event of a compressed air failure.
