lpkf0519Current foldable displays are made of plastics and therefore tend to scratches, folds and premature failure. Conventional smartphone displays do not have these problems because they are made up of at least two layers of partially tempered glass. Due to the glass, these displays cannot be folded easily. With the "Lide" technology, LPKF presents a solution for this task.

In the case of glass displays, the glass facing the viewer can be designed as thin as desired and thus foldable. However, this is not so easy with the stronger back of the display, the so-called backplane. LPKF has developed a concept for foldable glass displays based on its Lide technology.

Lide enables the economical production of microstructures in glass without creating micro-cracks or stresses in the material. With correspondingly designed microstructures, glass can be bent and folded without fatigue without surface defects.
