German manWith "Unigate "IC Interbus offers Deutschmann Automation manufacturers of decentralized control components a ready-to-use Interbus interface that relieves them of the expense of in-house development. The complete all-in-one bus node in the 32 DIL package unites all the necessary components such as microcontrollers, flash, RAM, bus controllers and analog components such as optocouplers in an area of only 45 x 25 mm.

To ensure future-proofing and long-term availability, the assembly was redesigned and the Interbus protocol chip SUPI 4 integrated. The key benefits of the chip include higher transmission speeds of up to 16 Mbps, automatic detection and setting of transmission speed, and expansion of the data width of inputs and outputs to 64 bytes.

In addition to the Interbus solution, the manufacturer also offers its interface ICs for Profibus DP, MPI, DeviceNET, CANopen, LonWorks, Ethernet TCP / IP, Modbus TCP / RTU / ASCII, Ethernet / IP Powerlink, EtherCAT and Profinet. The certified solution can be operated either stand-alone or connect via a UART interface with the microprocessor of the terminal, which relieves it completely from the processing of data traffic. The protocol of the terminal is translated in Unigate IC by a script, for the creation of which Deutschmann provides the free PC tool "Protocol Developer". With the tool, the script can be optimally adapted to the end product and the requirements of the bus; Firmware changes of the terminal are not required. To test the script, the user can use a second serial interface of the Unigate IC as a debug interface or for diagnostic output.
