With "e! Cockpit "and the PFC100 Wago shows how engineering software and the automation system can go hand in hand. The software supports the entire development process of the manufacturer's own automation components. The new controller addresses the demand for high-performance automation systems in a compact package.
The industry standard Codesys 3 provides the platform of integrated engineering software that exists in various licensing models. Equipped with a Cortex A8 processor, the PFC100 delivers 600 MHz. It accommodates two Ethernet ports with DIP switches or serial RS 62 / RS 232 interface on an 485 mm width only.
The controller is equipped with everything that is currently state-of-the-art in terms of security and encryption technologies: for example, an integrated firewall protects against unwanted network access. The real-time capable Linux operating system also benefits IT security. The Linux environment makes it possible to implement encryption technologies via TLS 1.2 (Transport Layer Security). Thus, an "IPsec" or "Open VPN" connection can be implemented directly from the controller, via which the encrypted data is sent. This gives users the option of implementing automation technology in accordance with the requirements of the BDEW white paper and the BSI IT security catalog.
The software continues to evolve since its launch in April 2015: With a second release, which will be released at the end of January 2016, there are now more products available within the development environment.
