The new Mitsubishi Electric "Melsec iQ-R"Control Series represents the next generation of iQ Platform. Modern production environments are characterized by high complexity and fierce competition. The iQ-R series processors are optimized for consistent, reliable manufacturing operations and up to eight times faster than their predecessor QCPU. Combined with the new high-speed bus, this results in up to 40 times higher throughput than the original iQ Platform. This significant increase in speed leads to shorter reaction times in production. This means, for example, an increase in quality through the faster implementation of changed parameters, greater control and coordination of complex motion tasks or improved energy management by means of planned load balancing or peak load management. The Melsec iQ-R Series provides users with even greater control over the entire production process.

Reduced development time

The targeted, structured reduction of development effort begins with the programming environment GX Works3. It can reuse existing programs. At the same time, the software features state-of-the-art monitoring and diagnostics, as well as advanced protection and management options for existing programs. New data storage features - especially error flags and events - allow maintenance technicians to quickly determine mileage. The new Dump feature automatically backs up active information to an SD card, including accurate time, error and status information.

The Melsec iQ-R series has a wider range of features and helps to reduce the development effort. The goal is to optimize the total cost of ownership and to enable maximum performance. With data management, processing and programming flexibility, backwards compatibility, extensive features, modules and options, the control series provides automation engineers with the tools they need to meet their future challenges. The start of sales is scheduled for June 2015.
