With the new "Melsec FX5" series brings Mitsubishi Electric the next generation of its compact PLC on the market. The successor of the successful Melsec FX3 family contributes even more to increasing productivity and reducing total cost of ownership and energy consumption. Thus, the PLC series offers significant advantages over its predecessor and is also fully compatible with the existing FX3 series.
The all-inclusive standard in the area of compact controllers, with its threefold faster processor, increases system performance and thus productivity. With built-in features such as high-speed counters and pulse outputs for cost-effective, high-performance positioning, an Ethernet interface, and analog I / O, such as PID control, the FX5 series is not just for modern machine builders, but universal Industries usable.
An SD card slot enables quick and easy capture and processing of production data. The simplified migration to modular PLCs and the data backup via SD card increase the ability to integrate with other automation components of the manufacturer.
The basic units are equipped with modern processors and designed for international operation with 100 to 240 V AC or 24 V DC. They are available with 32, 64 and 80 I / O. Output types include digital relay and transistor versions. All basic devices can be extended by extension modules up to 256 I / O. Suitable networks such as CC-Link, CC-Link IE Field, Ethernet, Profibus or Profinet can be extended to up to 512 I / O.
Even more difficult positioning tasks are handled by the controller without additional modules. Functions such as fast counters and pulse outputs up to a frequency of 200 KHz are integrated in all basic devices. This allows the control of up to four independent axes. In addition, the FX5 series is consistently backward-compatible, allowing easy and cost-effective FX3 migration. A bus converter can also be used with the extension modules of the existing FX3 series. The FX3U is programmed with the modern programming software "GX Works3", which is part of the integrated development environment "iQ Works".
Another strength of the latest control generation are the modules, functions and commands, which are precisely tailored to the vendor's product range. They ensure that the controllers in the automation network work together in a particularly efficient and user-friendly way with other compact and modular PLCs as well as with the company's frequency inverters, servo drives, operating and visualization systems.
