pepperlThe Remote I / O systems Pepperl + Fuchs have been modernized, they are now even more compact. Compatibility with existing systems remains fully intact. The LB / FB remote I / O systems have been used in process automation for many years. They are used for the intrinsically safe connection of Namur switching signals and solenoid valve outputs as well as temperature inputs or for feeding 2 or 4 conductors, transmitters, proportional valves and positioners.

LB Remote I / O is installed in the safe area or in the 2 zone, while FB Remote I / O can be mounted in Zone 1 with special encapsulation. Both systems use the same electronic modules for their pluggable modules. These have now been redesigned to the latest Atex guidelines and standards while remaining compatible with existing equipment. The software has also been retained to maintain full integration with the proven control systems.

Standard buses such as Profibus, Modbus or Industrial Ethernet are available for system connection. New, compact redundancy backplan saves space and costs. Extended Ex i parameters enable new interconnections with field devices. The redundant base units eliminate the need for separate redundancy units. The use for non-redundant applications is of course also possible. The picture shows the space savings associated with reduced wiring. Together with the new bus couplers for the Ethernet connection, the starting signal for the next generation of LB / FB remote I / O systems with comprehensive assurance of operational reliability is given.
