The "SmartRunner "family by Pepperl + Fuchs combines a high-precision light section sensor and a vision sensor unique in a compact device. The instantly deployable plug-and-play devices are factory-optimized for each task a specific field. Unlike conventional 'General Purpose devices' make up commissioning and parameterisation via teach-in or via Data Matrix control codes very simple and do not require specialized personnel.
With the help of powerful LED lighting, the Smartrunner can create image recordings for image documentation of errors, process conditions and quality features. The integrated data matrix decoder allows users to easily parameterize the sensor via data matrix control codes without using a PC. The detection result is provided by the light section sensors as a good or bad signal at switching outputs, which can be further processed by each control.
The first representatives of the device family are the Smartrunner "Matcher" and the Smartrunner "Detector". The matcher is optimized for recognizing a previously learned reference contour. The typical tasks include, for example, the high-precision checking of the position and correctness of objects, for example to verify the tangibility of body parts with the robot.
The Detector monitors the taught-in scene for the ingress of foreign objects, which can be a danger to sensitive machine parts such as expensive optics, precision tools, etc. In a trapezoidal measuring range of 350 mm width and 700 mm depth, it detects high-precision objects, optionally up to the size range of 1 mm.
Fields of application for the Smartrunner are numerous in the automotive industry and everywhere in plant and mechanical engineering.
