An Ethernet today passes no way: This development supports Baumer with an offer of absolute encoders in virtually any shape, for example, the high-resolution EtherCAT encoders GBMMW and GBMMS with enhanced performance. They allow cycle times of 62,5 microseconds and a highly synchronous position detection in the microsecond range.
This makes them suitable for time-critical applications such as high-speed packaging systems or bottling plants. The rotary encoders can be flexibly adapted to the operating conditions: number of steps, number of revolutions, preset, scaling and direction of rotation can be freely programmed. Easy-to-configure process data objects offer greater versatility, such as the joint transmission of position and internally calculated speed.
The devices have a single-turn resolution up to 18 bit or 262.144 steps per revolution and a multi-turn resolution up to 13 bit or 8192 revolutions. Scanning unit and electronic multiturn work purely optically and are therefore absolutely insensitive to strong magnetic fields. The gearless multiturn detection is wear-free and thus contributes to high system availability.
