The code reader FA 46 reads both standard 1D barcodes and 2D data matrix codes according to the ECC 200 standard. It can evaluate up to five data matrix and / or barcodes in one search area, whereby any number of search areas can be defined. In addition, he identifies further object features such as date imprints or stamps in the same reading pass. For this purpose, it has three additional detectors for object recognition (pattern matching, gray scale and contrast). Thanks to the integrated, optionally activatable position tracking system, codes and object characteristics are reliably detected even in the event of deviations from the taught-in position. Special image filters with advanced setting options guarantee a very good reading performance even under difficult reading conditions.
Complex automation tasks
With these capabilities, the FA 46 is able to handle even the most complex automation tasks that previously required a traditional image processing system or the use of multiple sensors - such as multi-code applications or combinations of code reading and object recognition. For the user, this means a significant saving, especially since the installation and set-up of the compact vision sensor is also very simple: With the help of the clear and easy-to-use PC configuration software "SensoConfig" with user guidance and context-sensitive help function, the configuration can also be achieved without sound image processing knowledge in a short time. The PC connection is only needed to set up the sensor, the system worked independently during operation.
Extended evaluation options in the sensor
The FA 46 code reader offers the user new options not only for capturing features but also for evaluating the data. Thus, test results can already be evaluated in the sensor - either by string comparison or regular expressions - so that in many cases a PLC or PC connection can be dispensed with. The setting of a comparison string or regular expression can be carried out directly via one of the sensor interfaces; a call-up of the configuration software is not necessary for this.
Also extended was the issue of standardized quality parameters - already implemented in the predecessor FA 45 - according to the ISO / IEC 15415 and AIM DPM 2006 standards for printed or directly marked (ie nailed or laser-marked) codes. In addition to the evaluation of 2D codes, the FA 46 code reader can now also determine the quality of 1D codes according to ISO / IEC 15416 and output them in a format that can be freely selected by the user.
Integrated interface and operating concept
The functionality of the new code reader, which has been significantly expanded compared to the predecessor FA 45 series, was made possible by the porting to a new software platform - after the object sensor presented last fall and the solar sensor presented at this year's Hanover Fair, the code reader is already the third member of the Vision sensor family FA 46. The uniform interface connection, the flexible data protocol and the integrated operating concept make it easier for users to set up and adapt the sensors to existing environments, while at the same time minimizing the training and training required.
The FA 46 standard also includes the free monitoring software "Sensoview", which enables display and monitoring of test results and images during operation. The range of functions of Sensoview also includes the change and upload of configurations as well as an "image recorder" for downloading images from the sensor memory. The images can then be used to offline-simulate configurations, minimizing intervention in operations.
Compact, self-sufficient image processing system
The vision code reader FA 46 is a complete image processing system consisting of a camera in compact sensor format (45 x 45 x 64 mm) with a powerful digital signal processor, integrated infrared, red light or white light LEDs, Ethernet and serial RS 422 interface and digital inputs and outputs. In addition to versions with integrated 6 mm or 12 mm lens, a C-mount version is also available. The sensor is supplied complete with the associated configuration and monitoring software.
