Heidenhain presents absolute encoder, which are used as accurate transducers in machine tools. They detect changes in position with high resolution and deliver corresponding signals to the controller in high quality immediately after switching on the meter. Its classic field of application are delivering torque motors and rotary axes in automation. In this capacity, they can also be essential for the accuracy and reliability of a machine tool - for example, the pinpoint rotation of magazines and revolvers in tool changers and in the control of auxiliary axes.

Compact connection dimensions of 56 mm diameter with an installation depth of 36,7 mm ensure space-saving installation even in smaller machines and in confined installation situations. The large variety of tailor-made electronic interfaces ensures easy connection with the machine controls of various suppliers. In addition, the machine manufacturer can choose the Endat interface with incremental signals or as a purely serial interface. The versions with purely serial interface are also available with functional safety.

As self-supporting rotary encoders especially for the machine tool, they are dust and moisture-proof, shock-resistant and vibration-resistant. They comply with protection classes up to IP 66 according to DIN 60529 and - depending on the coupling - achieve a vibration resistance according to EN 60068-2-6 of up to 300 m / s² and a shock resistance according to EN 60068-2-27 of up to 2000 m / s² , Decisive prerequisite for the high measuring accuracy and operational safety of the absolute encoders is the non-contact and thus wear-free optical scanning process.

For mechanical coupling with the machine, versions with stator coupling or separate shaft couplings are available. These each have a uniform mechanical connection contour, regardless of the electronic interface. Thus, the machine builder can mount encoders with electronic interfaces for a wide variety of controllers on one and the same connection contour. Thanks to this universality, these encoders are currently the only ones on the market to combine a Fanuc or Siemens Drive CLIQ interface with a hollow shaft.
