Leuze Electronic uses in the series of Barcode Readers BCL 20 now also has a blue laser and achieves amazing results in terms of depth of field, range and code reading at very small module thicknesses with its 405 nm wavelength light. Applications of the new bar code readers BCL 20 SB are mainly found in areas with small 1D codes, for example in packaging technology, the pharmaceutical industry and in laboratory applications.
A module is the narrowest bar in a barcode. Red light lasers offer only a small depth of field (0,15 mm) for small module thicknesses (eg 30 mm). With the blue diode, however, the depth of field is considerably larger (90 mm). This results in a greater tolerance in the placement of the code in the application. In addition, the range of the (B) optics for the blue laser is now 220 mm instead of the previous 180 mm (red laser). In principle, the stationary high-speed scanners of the BCL 20 series are a space-saving solution in industrial environments with fail-safe parameter memory.
