The optical absolute encoders with Modbus TCP interface from Posital are particularly suitable for use in building automation, for example in lift applications. There they can be used, for example, to capture the position of the car by means of shaft copying.
The rotary encoders contribute to improved system safety in the elevator area by supplementing the usual communication via the CANopen protocol. Schneider Electric certified encoders ensure reliable communication over Ethernet TCP / IP or Modbus TCP. In addition to position and velocity values, they also output a time stamp, whereby each of these values can be switched on individually as required.
The encoders can be connected directly to a PC, network or Modbus controller via a robust M12 connector. The data exchange takes place with up to 100 Mbit / s. The open, widespread Ethernet-based network protocol Modbus TCP enables evaluation on standard PCs without special hardware controllers. An integrated web server provides HTML pages with embedded Java applets so that the encoders can be parameterized, read out and tested with any standard browser via the company network or via the Internet.
For diagnosis, users can use the LEDs on the device as well as proven office tools. A rotary encoder can also be read by several masters.
