Baumer offers a wide range of robust sensor solutions specifically for use on cranes, mobile machinery and heavy commercial vehicles: Absolute multiturn encoders, which operate with a patented magnetic sensing principle, are suitable, for example, for the position detection of the angle of rotation of crane jibs. The IP67 degree of protection, high temperature resistance (from -40 ° to + 120 ° C possible) and, if required, redundant versions ensure safety and reliability.
The connection to the higher-level controller is handled by SSI or fieldbus interfaces, eg CANopen or SAE J1939. The same applies to the robust and very precise cable pull transmitters, which can be combined optionally with incremental or absolute encoders. With variable cable lengths up to 50 m and a linearity deviation of up to 0,02% of the measuring range, they offer good conditions for position measurement in support feet, in drilling or excavating applications as well as in determining the boom length. For the detection of vehicle inclination and boom angle, there are robust inclination sensors with one or two channels, variable measuring ranges up to 360 ° and also different fieldbus interfaces.
However, the robust sensors from the Baumer program have even more to offer. Not only do they cope with the harsh environmental conditions in outdoor use, they can even meet the highest demands for safety and reliability. There are sensors with SIL or PL certification as well as devices that convince with MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) values of more than 100 years.
