IO-Link sensorsWith the fully digital inductive IO-Link sensors Alphaprox from Baumer the most extensive diagnostic data on the market can be generated. In addition to sensor temperature, operating time and operating voltage, the IO-Link sensors also record boot cycles, switching frequency and distance values. This information can easily be called up via the IO-Link interface and in the control digitally processed. In addition, the sensors have a kind of memory.

The histogram function of the IO-Link sensors allows the frequency distribution of the process and diagnostic data to be evaluated over a relevant period of time. Condition monitoring makes it very easy to collect and evaluate information about the condition of devices, machines and systems. This data forms the basis for predictive maintenance. Through specific analyzes of the collected process and diagnostic data, the effectiveness of the systems can be increased and the processes in the applications optimized.

The Alphaprox inductive IO-Link distance sensors primarily provide a micrometer-accurate digital distance value. With a switching frequency of 1,25 kHz and a cycle time of 0,6 ms, the inductive IO-Link sensors from Baumer are the fastest on the market. Thanks to the extensive diagnostic data, the age of the sensor can be determined very precisely by recording the boot cycles or the previous operating time. This allows the machine operator to draw conclusions for his applications when a component is to be replaced or serviced. Machine downtime in the automation system can be optimally planned.

IO-Link sensors with histogram function

The IO-Link sensors have a unique histogram function for logging diagnostic and process data. If the machine is in an undesired state, it is easier for operators to understand the errors. This shortens the error analysis. The evaluation of trends is also easy with the IO-Link function and control. An increase in the sensor temperature can indirectly indicate that a machine component near the sensor is overheating or that the immediate ambient temperature is rising. This can be a warning of an impending machine failure.

In addition to the power supply and the temperatures, the measured value for distance and frequency are available for evaluation as a histogram. The statistics can be reset at any time so that the statistics in the process are not falsified when the sensor is commissioned or replaced. Via the user-friendly IO-Link interface, every system builder can read out the data for his histogram evaluation intuitively and as required. The IO-Link sensor internally converts units and outputs the values in the desired unit to the controller.

The inductive IO-Link sensors with the most extensive diagnostic data are available from Baumer in sizes 6,5 mm to M30 with a detection range of up to 18 mm with flush mounting. Most of this diagnostic data is also available with the Baumer ultrasonic sensors UR18 and U500.
