hms0213With the Anybus safety module HMS Industrial Networks offers device manufacturers a standardized solution for integrating safe inputs and outputs according to the Profisafe standard into their automation devices. With the simple option for controlling safe I / O signals via Profinet, the module fulfills the SIL3 safety requirement level and the performance "Level PLE".

With the Anybus safety module, the supplier extends the Anybus technology with a component for functional safety. The safety concept of the module was developed in cooperation with TÜV Rheinland. With the new development, the manufacturer supports the trend towards the integration of safety technology in standard bus systems. This trend is particularly noticeable in the automotive industry: In future production lines, all control functions - process data exchange, energy management and also safety signals - are to be exchanged over one and the same Profinet network.

Especially for devices where safety plays only a minor role and only few safe signals are required, the hurdle to realize an integrated solution is very high. Typical examples include welding, gluing, screwdriving, display and HMI devices with an emergency stop button, protective grid controls, door lock controllers, laser controls and micro-drives. Typically, these devices have a discretely designed safe signal input, which is controlled separately via a safety controller. The purpose of the integrated solution is to transmit the previously separately wired safe signals over the same network, over which even the non-secure process data and control commands are transmitted. For the plant operator this means savings in cabling, more flexibility and the concentration of all control functions of the plant via a network and a controller.

Functionally compatible variants for CIP-Safety, Open Safety, Safety over EtherCAT and Safety over Sercos are planned in the future.
