Especially for measuring technology, an open Ethernet interface simplifies the integration of the sensors into the existing systems; the wiring effort is minimal. The operator can address the controller from anywhere via the IP address, evaluate the measurement data location-independently and perform remote maintenance worldwide.
The Ethernet star topology can be replaced by Ethercat with a simple line structure. Especially in automation technology, Ethercat is often used as a real-time Ethernet fieldbus and is characterized by high performance, low wiring costs and openness to other protocols.
