With the new LB Profinet gateway realized Pepperl + Fuchs the connection of the LB remote I / O systems to the Profinet world. Thanks to integrated communication, the intelligence available in the field can also be used optimally - a decisive step in making systems fit for Industrie 4.0.
At the beginning of 2019, the automation provider launches the LB Profinet gateway, enabling full access to all connected Hart devices in addition to the conventional Profinet functionality. In practice, therefore, in addition to the process variables, hard-side variables are also available to the user as second measured values. In addition, the diagnostic data of the field devices can be read out via Hartip - transparency and plant availability are thus significantly increased.
In addition, the gateway offers maximum flexibility, since different protocols can run on the same connection cable as Profinet and Hart-IP. And this is highly performant because a fully occupied remote I / O system can connect up to 80 field devices that communicate without delay.
The gateway is based on an intelligent redundancy concept: An integrated switch thus ensures the functioning of the network at any time on the basis of the Medium Redundancy Protocol (MRP). If one line fails, the ring network is reconfigured to route data packets over the alternate route. With big data and the increasing interconnectedness of industrial plants, the potential for danger also increases, and the new gateway also meets the corresponding security requirements. With the largest display available on the market, the gateway is easy to use. Device status and other diagnostic data can be read at a glance via RGB LEDs.
