Mobile 3D sensor system with integrated 2D camera and overlay function

Designed for mobile use, this 3D smart camera from IFM Electronic is the first 3D sensorsystem with an additional integrated 2D camera. The overlay function can be used to graphically display obstacles and issue warnings, symbols and even complex drawings in real time. In addition, the signal processing in the sensor means that no external process unit is required.

User-specific parameterization is possible in a few steps with the Vision Assistant. All overlays are triggered either by the integrated driver assistance system or by the machine control via CAN. Thus, the user always has a clear view of all relevant (warning) information on the camera image.

Next to the 3D- and 2D image sensor, a complete evaluation is also integrated in the housing, which at the same time provides the user with a self-sufficient assistance system for collision avoidance. Setup takes just a few steps using the Vision Assistant PC software. In addition to an analogue video output, the smart camera also has a CAN and Ethernet UDP interface, which the system can use to independently issue warning signals in critical situations. This pioneering technology enables a completely new and rapid perception in many areas of application.
