Siemens presents the second generation of the decentralized frequency converter "Sinamics G120D". It now has positioning functionality and features enhanced safety functions as well as safe inputs and outputs. The number of I / Os has also been supplemented by analogue inputs. The converter is used for demanding conveyor-related and process-related applications in industrial environments. It can position and regenerate energy, for example for lifting applications.

The second generation of the inverter completes the IP65 product line and is characterized in particular by integrated positioning capability, which is possible with incremental and absolute position measuring systems. The existing digital I / Os, which allow simple wiring of sensors and actuators directly on the drive, have also been extended with analogue inputs. In addition, extended safety functions and fail-safe inputs and outputs are available.

The inverter has a particularly flat design, a robust metal housing and the same drilling dimensions for all services. Commissioning is particularly easy via USB interface. In addition, improved performance over the previous model improved sensorless vector control (SLVC) and vector control with incremental encoder (VC). The modular inverter is Profienergy-capable and provides integrated energy modes. Its standard recovery capability makes it an energy efficient drive. The Sinamics G120D is fully integrated in the scope of Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) at the automation level and is particularly suitable for decentralized materials handling applications such as those found in the automotive industry.
