Since 1. January 2017 is the energy-saving class IE3 in the EU for electric motors in network operation from 0,75 to 375 kW nominal power required. The basis for this extension to smaller engine sizes is Regulation (EC) 640 / 2009 implementing the Ecodesign Directive 2009 / 125 / EC. Nord Drive Systems 2016 has been offering 0,12 motors from the beginning in efficiency classes IE3 according to IEC 60034-30-1 and Premium Efficiency according to NEMA MG1.
Thus, the manufacturer exceeds the legal requirements, especially in the small power range, which makes up the majority of the engines used in terms of numbers. In order to make the change easy for machine and plant engineers, the drive specialist keeps up IE3 engines largely identical dimensions to those of efficiency class IE2 motors, so that they can be integrated into the system without any design changes.
The program also includes IE4 or Super Premium efficiency motors, which are standard on the inverter and have even higher efficiencies.
