Kellenberger launches a new one B-axis with a concept unique to universal cylindrical grinding machines. The full B-axis positions the The cost-optimized design could be realized without sacrificing precision. The consistent new development with direct drive and high-resolution rotary encoder enables higher positioning speeds while at the same time improving positioning accuracy.
It closes the gap to the hydrostatic variant introduced two years ago, which is used in machine series in the upper price segment. Thanks to the high rigidity, complete machining can be optimized and productivity increased. The high positioning accuracy improves the dimensional accuracy especially in those cases where can not be dressed after panning. This is typically the case when using CBN or diamond wheels.
The wear-free drive via a high-torque motor has a generously dimensioned torque and allows high travel speeds. The rotary encoder integrated in the absolute measuring system of the machine requires no referencing and guarantees maximum accuracy. With the direct drive, the B-axis has no backlash in the drive train and, thanks to its high rigidity, makes it possible to control the position of the grinding head more dynamically. The time for the tool change is massively reduced, thereby minimizing non-productive time.
