Baumüller has its permanent magnet synchronous motor, which has proven itself for years as the drive solution "Power Mela" in mobile drive technology, in its "B Maxx 5000 "controller concept integrated. Power Mela was developed in cooperation with Sensor-Technik Wiedemann. The engine is available in the power classes 80 and 140 kW and generates, in addition to the electromagnetic torque due to the Lorentz force, an additional reluctance torque.
When used with the B Maxx 5000, both torques - both electromagnetic and reluctance torque - can be used, allowing for optimized operation and high power density. The new solution is interesting for all applications where high performance in confined spaces and a high flow temperature of the cooling medium are required, as well as the installation of the electronics in a separate control cabinet. Combined heat and power plants, port vehicles, marine propulsion or cranes, for example, are some applications that benefit from the properties of the new propulsion package.
Due to its special design, the motor has an exceptionally high power density, thanks to the special integration of the magnets and the innovative cooling concept with direct conductor cooling. It has a constant power up to twice the base speed and a high torque in the base speed range. The very high motor efficiency enables energy-efficient drive dimensioning and a smaller design of the heat exchanger. The motor is also suitable for harsh environmental applications thanks to its rugged design with IP69K protection.
The B Maxx 5000 can be used for powers up to 315 kW. For optimum safety, the manufacturer offers an integrated safety concept for the inverter with three different safety modules. It is available in seven sizes and in the cooling modes air, water and coldplate. Operable with the user-friendly and hot-pluggable control panel, additional fieldbuses are available in addition to Ethercat and CAN open optionally.
