Baumüller extends the revs at the Engines of the DST series2 with integrated thrust bearing from previously 300 to 600 min-1, With the new engines, manufacturers of single-screw extruders will be able to design their machine layout much more flexibly in the future: with the same output, either fast-running extruders with smaller screw diameters or extruders with smaller motors can be realized.
Alternatively, with the same engine size, the higher speed can increase the output and thus the productivity or the throughput of the extruder. With the higher speeds in the thrust bearing, the heat input into the system also increases and less heat must be supplied to melt the granules from the outside. This allows operators to save additional energy costs.
In combination with the Baumüller servo drives "B Maxx 4000" and B Maxx 5000, the user can also use a worm release function: Gentle torque reduction prevents the tensioned worm from suddenly being relieved and thus causing damage to the worm heads. Likewise, encoderless operation for speed control is possible in conjunction with the controllers.
