Kollmorgen presents with the Frameless Brushless Motors (KBM) Series new housing and brushless torque motors for demanding high-performance applications in confined spaces. They meet the demands of machine manufacturers and users for machines with a higher throughput, less noise and longer service life. As hollow shaft direct motors with very high power density, they enable particularly compact machine solutions.
By mounting the KBM motors directly on the load capacity of the machines, they offer the advantages of a rotary direct motor over traditional mechanical transmission systems. By eliminating components such as gearboxes and toothed belts, the machine throughput increases and the noise development decreases. In addition, this reduces maintenance and repair costs, machine downtimes are reduced and lifespan is increased. The efficiency of KBM engines is at least 10% higher than that of mechanical solutions such as engine-gearbox and timing belt systems. The series can handle high inertia ratios between rotor and load. The acceleration and deceleration values contribute to maximum throughput.
Compared with other direct motor solutions, the KBM series differs in its unique variety of differently designed standard components. From them, high-performance solutions can be put together according to the modular principle. 14 sizes, 7 lengths, prefabricated motor windings via 150 are available. To increase the application performance even an external air or water cooling can be installed, which increases the permanent moment of the engines considerably.
The KBM series uses bonded solenoids that allow continuous torque from 1,45 to 3445 Nm and peak torque from 4,91 to 12.812 Nm. The CE directive is met and the materials used comply with the UL recommendation. In addition, RoHS-compatible materials were taken into account in the selection of materials.
The direct motors are available in standard sizes from 60 to 825 mm diameter and are available for 240 or 480 V AC. Each frame size is available in 3 or 4 lengths. The rotor hub dimensions can also be customized within certain limits.
