Octacom introduces a completely new generation of gearless permanent magnet synchronous motors. The machines deliver high torques directly from standstill. They are particularly suitable for the low speed range, but also meet demanding dynamic drive tasks such as high-frequency reversing operation due to minimal moments of inertia.
Savings for customers result from the fact that high-efficiency torque motors can be operated directly on the mains using commercially available frequency converters and do not require any additional cooling. The most important advantages of direct drives compared to conventional electric motors are highest efficiency (up to 98% depending on size), greater reliability and precision even without electronic control, more dynamics, higher torsional rigidity and longer service life. η+tm torque motors from the SQM series offer protection class IP54, optionally higher, and are characterized by almost zero wear: they consist of few mechanical components, gearboxes and timing belts are completely eliminated and the robust construction protects the ball bearings as far as possible.
The high-performance machines can be used in all imaginable fields of application instead of electric motors, on agitators as well as in servo or robot technology. The modular designed η+tm system makes it possible to inexpensively adapt the motors to the specific application or integrate them into the machine. In principle, all the forms known from conventional electric motors can be realized. Currently there are SQM motors with edge dimensions from 95 to 320 mm for a torque range from 5 to about 1350 Nm. Larger torques up to 6000 Nm are optional. The machines are designed in all common foot, flange and mixing designs and equipped with brakes and encoders if required. Also hollow shaft versions can be delivered. It is also possible to connect several models of the same type in parallel to one inverter; This makes it possible to implement synchronous operation very inexpensively and without additional measures.
