koco Motion offers the "Lexium mdriveSchneider Electric's (LMD) stepper motors now feature a multiturn absolute encoder. This extends the performance of the integrated stepper motors - and with the same dimensions.

The multi-turn absolute encoder function with a line number of 1000 has been integrated into the "all-in-one" motor. Based on the advantages of a stepper motor positioning drive with absolute displacement measurement, this gives users a complete servo system. This enables new applications in state-of-the-art machines and systems. The well-known IP protection classes up to IP67 allow use even in harsh environments. The rotary and linear stepper motors are now available in NEMA sizes 17 and 23. The Nema 34 engines will be available from first quarter 2019.

The LMD with integrated multi-turn absolute encoder follows the trend of integrating more and more components into individual units, thus making the drives smart. LMD drives with absolute encoders capture and store position data even when switched off. This eliminates the need for homing after turning off the controller. The system is immediately ready for use, the set-up time at system startup is shortened.

The LMD stepper motors with absolute encoders have fully programmable motion control. They operate in different modes: closed loop, torque control and variable current control for energy savings and reduced heating. The communication protocols Ethernet / IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, CANopen and RS-422 / 485 are available for network capability.
