The Hexapod H-850KMLD from Physik Instrumente (PI) enables high-precision positioning in applications with limited space. The 6 axis system achieves a minimum step size of 1 μm via 100 mm travel in the XY direction and 0,5 μm via 50 mm travel in the Z direction. The maximum tilt or rotation angle is ± 30 °.
If the Hexapod is turned on and off frequently, an optional integrated Absolute Encoder simplifies operation. This provides the unique position of the axes after switching on. A reference run is not necessary. This protects especially structures that do not allow free positioning over the entire travel and saves time that can be used for regular operation.
The H-850KMLD positions loads up to 500 kg with a horizontal position up to 0,5 mm / s. The linear repeat accuracy is ± 1 μm. When mounting in any orientation up to 200 kg can be precisely adjusted.
The H-850KMLD is controlled via the powerful Motion Controller C-887. It enables position input in Cartesian coordinates, vector control and a stable pivot point freely definable by software in the room. The digital controller also supports a Labview based software environment. The integration into text-based programming languages under Microsoft Windows or Linux is facilitated by program libraries and sample codes.
By means of extensive software packages, the Hexapod system can be integrated into the customer's own software before delivery.
