The clearance-free disk pack clutch compensates for axial, radial and angular shaft misalignment.
If the main propulsion system is a ship's propeller, for example, via an electric motor, spring steel multi-disk pack clutches such as the Roba-DS offer decisive advantages: These clutches are robust, reliable and temperature-resistant. They are therefore particularly suitable for use under the extreme environmental conditions at sea. In addition, they work wear-free and thus reduce the necessary maintenance to a minimum. As for the predecessor model Roba-D, the drive specialist has also been granted type approval by the DNV GL (Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd) for the more compact and high-performance Roba-DS all-steel couplings up to size 2200.
The nominal torques specified in the catalog can be used without restriction. A reduction of the nominal torque due to displacement, load spectrum or balance request is not necessary. The couplings are compact, high-performance and very compact - ideal for marine engines where space for installation is limited. For suppliers who have to take into account displacements and alternating moments during dimensioning, a larger coupling must frequently be selected for the same rated torque and speed.
These disc pack couplings transmit torques up to the nominal torque absolutely free of play and with a constant high torsional rigidity. The specified shaft offsets can be exhausted in total to 100% without influencing the transmittable torque. The disc pack couplings compensate for radial, axial and angular misalignment of shafts and thereby protect the bearings from undesirable loading and thus unnecessary downtime and costs.
