More and more manufacturers of pumps, filter systems and agitators use permanent magnetic synchronous couplings as sealing elements. Especially when working with critical media such as acids or alkalis, the hermetic separation of input and output side is an absolute prerequisite. The non-contact and thus leak-free power transmission offers many advantages over conventional shaft seals. Ringfeder has recently developed a magnet system with optimized flux concentration for a customer in the filtration industry.
In the past, the client used a magnet system with an expensive adapter flange to connect the different bolt and can shell holes. The new solution works without an adapter, as the diameter could be reduced by around 25% due to the improved flux concentration. As a result, a direct connection is now possible.
In contrast to conventional synchronous clutches, this magnet system has 50% more torque with the same size. At the same time, the proportion of magnetic material was reduced by 30%, which results in a reduced mass moment of inertia. In order to save costs, inner and outer rotor can also be made of aluminum or plastic instead of stainless steel.
