The Schmidt coupling is a short construction, torsionally rigid power coupling for a large variable radial misalignment. There are no reaction forces generated. The offset can be changed as desired during operation, the clutch ensures an always constant angular velocity of input and output shaft. The short-length coupling principle offers variable adjustment possibilities between the input and output shafts with a small axial length.
There are three series with a maximum allowable radial misalignment, depending on the coupling size and version up to 275 mm. Versions with adapted surface coatings enable adaptation in a large number of machines under special environmental conditions. In packaging machines for pharmaceutical products, there are special regulations regarding the required materials to be used machine parts and drive components.
For this requirement a stainless steel version was developed. The connection discs and the center disc are made of 1.4541 stainless steel. For the coupling elements, the grade 1.4571 was chosen. Specially adapted high-performance plain bearings work in the coupling links. Equipped with clamping sets made of stainless steel, they offer a force-locking shaft connection in accordance with the machines running in cycle mode.
