The process-reliable, precise and space-saving workpiece change plays a decisive role in the automated loading of machine tools. Specially for this Schunk has developed a slim, interference contour minimized lightweight coupling, which enables pallet loading extremely close to the machine table. With "Vero-S NSR" it is possible to realize particularly low setups from the clamping station and pallet, leaving plenty of room in the machine room for the workpiece and for the axis movements.
With a dead weight of only 1,6 kg (size 160), the robot coupling with pull-in forces of up to 15 kN creates a very rigid system. It transmits torques of up to 1600 Nm and is even suitable for the reliable handling of heavy pallets up to 350 kg (with 400 x 400 mm). Such large masses are made possible by a patented rapid and clamping stroke, with which all zero point clamping modules of the manufacturer are equipped. In order to achieve the optimum ratio of rigidity, robustness and weight, the development engineers have executed parts outside the power flow in aluminum, parts in the power flow are made of hardened stainless steel.
The locking of the module is positive locking and self-locking. With a pneumatic system pressure of 6 bar, the module can be unlocked. This does not require oiled air. Opening, closing and pallet presence are queried via inductive proximity switches so that the entire change process can be monitored. Against chips and coolants, the power-dense module is completely sealed.
