Ruland offers multi-disc clutches in single and double joint design. They are used in high-precision systems such as test and measurement devices, dosing and positioning systems as well as other applications in medical, semiconductor and solar technology. Thanks to their low mass moment of inertia and their torsional stiffness, they are suitable for high-precision backlash-free systems with speeds up to 10.000 min-1.
The multi-plate clutches consist of two black anodized aluminum hubs and one or two spring washers (lamellae) made of stainless steel. The single-joint design is suitable for systems requiring compact installation dimensions. The double joint versions have an intermediate piece to compensate for large displacements even better. The intermediate piece consists either of anodized aluminum or can be made of electrically insulating acetal for potential separation. The thin lamellae compensate for large shifts between the shafts but are torsionally rigid. Parallel displacements can be compensated by the double-joint design or by two single-joint versions arranged one behind the other.
Single and double joint multi-disc clutches from Ruland are available both with clamping hubs and with set screws with bore sizes from 3 to 30 mm. All couplings of the manufacturer are RoHS and Reach compliant.
