As soon as precise angular positions are to be kept under load during high-precision simultaneous machining, these axes must be held. Although there are already clamping element solutions on the market, none has yet met the customer's strict criteria. Ringspann introduces a new tensioning clutch for use in the powered rotary swivel tables of multi-axis machining centers.

Based on an existing clamping technology concept, the clamping coupling ensures a twist angle of no more than 2400 degrees at torques of up to 0,007 Nm. Clamping disks transmit the axial force of compression springs into an effective radial force and rejuvenate a specially designed deformation element. This ensures the torsionally rigid clamping of the axle journal. The clamping is quickly released by applying the clamping coupling with 115 bar hydraulic pressure. The torque motor can then drive the axle freely in any other angular position. The new clamping coupling for rotary swivel tables is now being mass-produced.
