For hygienically demanding applications Nord Drive Systems two-step Bevel-helical gearbox made of aluminum in five sizes with torques up to 660 Nm, which are particularly easy to clean. The washdown design is based on smooth sloping surfaces and transitions with large radii, avoids chambers and does not require a mounting lid.
Cleaning fluids always drain easily and completely from the surfaces, which, thanks to their special design, also remain significantly cooler than comparable drives. Among other things, the design is intended for use in the food industry, taking into account international guidelines and standards such as EHEDG, ANSI / BISSC and ANSI / NSF. If required, the gearboxes can be equipped with double shaft seals for special requirements. The available with hollow or solid shaft gearbox is available in both open and closed design.
The block construction of the housings makes them highly torsion resistant and resistant to mechanical stress. The optional surface treatment "NSD tuph" also makes them particularly resistant to corrosion and insensitive to acids and alkalis. NSD tuph of the manufacturer is not a coating, so that nothing can chip off, but a process that makes the surface up to seven times harder than the base material aluminum. The housings thus have properties that are very similar to those of stainless steel versions, but at the same time they are much lighter and require less material.
In addition to their use in food processes, the gearboxes are therefore also suitable for conveyor systems and hoists, if gearboxes are used in the application and their weight therefore plays an important role. All gearbox versions can be flexibly combined with suitable smooth motors independent of manufacturer.
