At the booth of Nord Drive Systems There is a preview of a new series of performance-optimized two-stage bevel-helical gearboxes. The bevel-helical gear units are designed as washdown versions - when washing off, the cleaning fluid can therefore always flow off smoothly in all mounting positions. For this, the surface transitions were performed with large radii. There are no undercuts or dead spaces. The gear units are particularly suitable for use in conveyor belts as well as for applications in the food industry and other fields of application, such as hoist applications, storage systems and overhead monorail systems.
Since the outer dimensions remain largely the same, users can easily replace old gearbox versions with the new models. Thanks to higher power reserves than the predecessor models, in some cases even a smaller number can be selected. In addition, the new gearboxes are suitable for use with the manufacturer's entire motor range, allowing customers to flexibly assemble drive solutions.
The complete market introduction of the series, which includes five sizes with torques from 90 to 660 Nm, will not take place before the end of 2011. All units are equipped with a high-strength die-cast aluminum housing, which is constructed according to the proven block housing principle. Since it requires neither a mounting cover nor a bolted housing inner wall, the gearboxes are particularly small and light. This facilitates handling, and in applications in which the drives are moved, the energy requirement decreases.
