Whether direct and indirect light accents, colored accent strips or mirror surfaces: With an innovative plastic coating, components in and around the vehicle can be designed in a variety of ways. Benseler shows how wide the range of what is feasible with plasma vacuum coatings (PVD) in combination with UV paint is.
Above all, components for the interior of the vehicle can be seen, which take into account the increasing demands on the design and personalization of the vehicle interior in automobile production. The surface specialists show how they use translucent PVD coatings to coat accent strips with a high-gloss chrome surface, which display backlit operating symbols.
For interior components with day-night design, the surface experts partially replace the metallic surface with laser processing after the PVD coating, so that key functions such as "Start", "Stop" or "Play" become visible in the desired font and form. in daylight, for example in plastic white, backlit in the dark. Subsequently, the parts are sealed with a UV topcoat.
Further accents and additional color design variants are offered by the so-called sputtering of "Diamond Like Carbon" layers (DLC). This new generation of diamond-like, amorphous carbon and graphite hard coatings are characterized by their abrasion resistance, low coefficient of friction, corrosion suppression and optical transparency at layer thicknesses up to 1000 nm. They also enable high-quality, brilliant black chrome effects and noble black high-gloss effects.
